University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UH Bristol) has won the Environmental Practice Award at the 2011 Health Business Awards. The 5th annual Awards, announced at the Emirates Stadium, London on 8th December, recognise excellence and best practice within the NHS.

New Carbon video for staff induction

NHS Bournemouth and Poole has developed ‘Cutting Carbon and Improving Health’ – a 9 minute video that explains carbon and the role of the NHS in reduction, for use in staff inductions. The video is available for all Trusts to use for their staff, and is available on YouTube and Vimeo (click on the name).

Following the closure of the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC), the government’s independent watchdog on sustainable development (SD), the NHS SDU has taken ownership of one of its most important creations: the Good Corporate Citizenship Assessment Model (GCC). Revised in 2009 the GCC offers a self assessment test which allows organisations to look at their SD progress in all areas from procurement to community engagement.
