Health benefits of greenspace quantified! (from Centre for Sustainable Healthcare website)

The UK National Ecosystems Assessment has just produced a report which highlights the ‘hidden value’ of nature and has produced economic benefits onto various aspects of the natural environment. Highlights of the report which provide further evidence as to the importance of the work of the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, most notably the NHS Forest, is the following: “The health benefits of living with a view of a green space are worth up to £300 per person per year”.

NHS Forest Event

NHS Forest, the organisation which aims to plant 1.3 million trees (one for every NHS employee) by 2015 are holding their annual event at Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry. The day includes finding out more about NHS Forest, a workshop on "delivering the NHS Forest" and an awards ceremony hosted by Pam Warhurst, (Chair of the Forestry Commission). Founded in 2006, the campaign has grown steadily and is now established as a major event that is celebrated in parks across the country. GI Masterclass - Natural Economy (10 May, Exeter)

Sustainability South West and Natural England held the second in their spring Green Infrastructure Masterclass series on Monday, 10 May in Exeter. The topic of this class was on the Natural Economy, and two sessions were held during the day for a small group of delegates from regional Local Authorities, voluntary organisations and consultancies.
