NHS Sustainability Day of Action

Date:
Wednesday, March 28, 2012
Location:
Nationwide

The NHS ‘Day of Action on Sustainability that will be held on the 28th March 2012. Visit the website - www.nhssustainabilityday.co.uk – for more detail. On the site you can download an event pack, which has a huge amount of useful information, including a simple carbon calculator and info for different areas of the organisation.

The organisers (University College London Hospital and the NHS SDU) would like health professionals across the UK to carry out a snapshot audit on energy use in hospitals and clinics. It's easy to carry out, but it needs health professionals in every Trust in the UK to take part. To date over 25% of NHS trusts and organisations from all over the UK have confirmed participation (many have their logos displayed on the website) – and it is hoped that 50-75% of the NHS will participate. Every audit submitted will help to create a better picture of how the NHS is using (or wasting) energy.  Importantly it will also highlight opportunities for making savings, which could be translated into patient services.  Click here to go to the audit pages of the website.

Please take part in this event by emailing your support and potential plans for the day to Sustainabilityday2012@uclh.nhs.uk.
